Welcome to the HealthyPet U Web site (www.HealthyPetU.com) operated by ThinkPets, Inc. (together with our parent, affiliates and subsidiaries, “HPU,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). HealthyPet U and HealthyPet Magazine respect each individual’s right to personal privacy. We will collect and use information through our Web site only in the ways disclosed in this privacy policy statement (our “Privacy Policy”). This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected at the HealthyPet U Web site and your use of the HPU services.
Part I. Information Collection.
HealthyPet U is a host website which allows you to more closely manage your pets’ health in conjunction with your veterinarian. The following sections describe what type of information we collect, when we collect it and how we use it.
Veterinarian Provided Information
HPU is provided with the names, contact information and pet information of people whose veterinarians have subscribed them to HealthyPet Magazine, including but not limited to: your name, address, email, pet’s name, pet’s species, pet’s breed, and pet’s birthday. HPU has an agreement with each participating veterinarian that protects the confidentiality your personal information from sale to any third party company. All communications a user receives from HPU will be directly from their veterinarian, and all related stored data provided by the veterinarian is similarly owned by the veterinarian.
Registration Information
We verify the accuracy of the information provided by your veterinarian by asking our users to confirm their name, address, email address and pet information when they register. Your account registration and continued use our service confirms your consent and agreement to the delivery of your account information to us by your veterinarian and by us to your veterinarian as described herein. Registered users can verify and update their account information at any time by logging in to their account on the Web site and using the link to Edit My Account located on the My HPU page. Registered users may update their pet information and photos using the Edit/Add tools accessible from the My HPU page. Any updated information you provide will be provided to and shared with your veterinarian.
Some areas of HealthyPet U are only available to pet owners who receive HealthyPet Magazine from their veterinarian; accordingly in order to receive our products and services, disclosure of users’ name, contact information and pets’ information is mandatory. Other information we request is optional and users may choose whether or not to provide it to us.
We may also from time to time ask you to provide other personal information through your account, including your mailing address, phone number, age, ethnicity, gender, marital status and/or birthdate. This information may be shared with the veterinarian practice affiliated with your Account. This information will also be used to provide aggregate demographic information to our member veterinary practices and advertising partners. We will only use such information in the aggregate and we will not connect such information to personally identifiable information, such as people’s names or email addresses.
Send to a Friend Feature
On our Web site, we provide a “Send to a Friend” form which allows users to email articles to other people. In order to send the article, we will ask for the users name and email address as well as the email address of the article recipient. We will automatically send a customizable email containing a link to the article. We store this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email and tracking the success of our article referral program. The recipient may contact us to request that we remove this information from our database.
Contact Us
We provide customer service support and the opportunity to provide feedback through our Web site via a contact form available on the Web site. In order to contact us via the form, we will ask for your name and email address. We also provide you with a field to describe your request or submit your comments. We only use information received from customer support requests, including email addresses, for customer support services. Any other information you provide will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of our services.
Contests
We may offer contests to our visitors and registered users from time to time. To enter each particular contest, visitors must submit their email addresses and/or any other information required by the contest rules. We may incorporate certain information from our visitors when they participate in contests so we may better understand what types of contests appeal to our visitors. We will only use such information in the aggregate and we will not connect such information to personally identifiable information, such as people’s names or email addresses.
Site Usage Statistics and Cookies
We collect site usage statistics from clickstream tracking and automatic logging files. We also employ cookies. A cookie is a small text file that our Web server places on a user’s computer hard drive to be a unique identifier. Cookies enable us to track usage patterns and deliver customized content to users. Part II. Information Usage.
The information collected by HPU will be used for recommending articles related to your pet and providing you with a more personalized Web experience while on the site. We use your geographic data and pet data in order to provide users with lists and information regarding local veterinarians and shelters, and recommend articles related to your pet. We also collect general data that is not personally identifiable information via poll results, site usage and visitor’s host domain name information. We use this information to provide additional relevant content to our users and to improve upon the services offered on the Web site as described above.
We will share statistical and demographic information about our users and their pets as well as their use of the Site and Service with suppliers of advertisements, potential affiliate partners and other commercial relationships. We may also disclose and otherwise use non-personally identifiable information about users and their pets. None of the above would include anything that could be used to identify you in the offline world or to discover individual information about you.
Registered users may also receive emails, newsletters, service reminders, coupons, life stage emails, birthday announcements, product recommendations, offers and deals from our partners and other electronic and/or print communications containing HPU content from their veterinarian. Registered users may receive additional announcements from us or your veterinarian about products, services, and special announcements. These communications may be delivered via email, mobile messaging, SMS text messaging, postal mail or other communications means we employ now or in the future. Out of respect for the privacy of our users we present the option to not receive these types of communications. In order to opt out of receiving these communications, users should follow the ‘unsubscribe’ or 'manage email preferences' instructions contained in any communication they receive or send us an email request at admin [at] healthypetu.com. You may also change your communications selections by clicking on the email preference center when logged in to your Account on the Web site. Unless you opt out of receiving these communications, by completing your registration, and through your continued use of our Web site and services, you consent and agree to receive these communications from your veterinarian through our service.
We may use third party service providers to facilitate or outsource one or more aspects of the services and communications that we provide to you on behalf of your veterinarian on the Web site and in connection with your account (e.g., printing and mailing services, email service providers, and marketers) and therefore we may provide some of your personal information directly to these service providers. These service providers' are subject to confidentiality agreements with us and other legal restrictions that prohibit their use of the information we provide them for any other purpose except to facilitate the specific service for which they were retained, unless you have explicitly agreed or given your prior permission to them for additional uses.
Your contact and pet information will be made available to your veterinarian who may use the information to update contact information and pet information they have regarding you and your pets. Users may not opt out of having their information shared with their veterinarians. Access to the HealthyPetU Web site is provided to pet owners on behalf of their veterinarian.
The information we collect will not be used to create customer profiles based on browsing. We will not supplement information collected at our Web site with data from other sources except as we may receive from a user’s veterinarian.
In the event that HPU or its parent company goes through a business transition, such as a merger, being acquired by another company, or selling a portion of its assets, visitors’ information will, in most instances, be part of the assets transferred. If this occurs, your personal information would remain subject to this Privacy Policy.
Notwithstanding any other term of this privacy statement, we may release any personal information we obtain or collect when we believe its release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our Web site policies, or protect ours or others’ rights, property, or safety.
Part III Links to Third Party Websites.
We offer links to other Web sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. When you click on links to other Web sites, we encourage you to read their privacy policies. Their standards may differ from ours. Part IV Policy Modification.
We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. All users and visitors will be bound by any changes to our Privacy Policy when you use the Web site after such changes to our Privacy Policy have been posted.
Part V. Changing Your Information.
HPU maintains the accuracy of our information by allowing registered users to login in to the Web site and update their name, email, user name and password information using the Edit My Account page accessible from the My HPU page. Users may update their pet information and photos using the Edit/Add tools accessible from the My HPU page. Users may access their own personal information and update it or contact us by email about inaccuracies they may find. Users may request by email that HPU terminate their account and inactivate the use of their information from use for future communications.
Part VI. Minors.
HPU does not actively market to children, and we never knowingly ask a child under 13 to divulge personal information. Our Web site and services are intended for use by adults over the age of 18 only. By using our Web site and services, you represent that you are 18 years of age or older. We will not knowingly collect personally identifiable from minors under 18 years of age, and if we learn that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will promptly delete it.

HPU protects user information with the following security measures: secure servers (which may be operated by third parties contracted for such services by HPU), firewalls, and SSL encryption. Therefore, your use of the Web site and the services, and your disclosure to us of any personally identifiable information, is at your own risk.
