Gentle and intelligent, not only do Labrador Retrievers make great sporting and family dogs, they also excel in holding down certain human jobs. Many are employed as service dogs and guide dogs to the blind; still others work in law enforcement as part of search and rescue or narcotics detection teams. Like most of the sporting class breeds, they’re generally happy eager to please. Most Labrador Retrievers are good with kids and other pets, and outgoing towards strangers. Labrador Retrievers hold rank at #1 on the AKC’s Breed Popularity list, and show no signs of dropping.
