Web Brings Donors Together to Save Dog

A group of generous animal lovers from Canada, England, Germany, Sweden, and the United States banded together over the Internet to pay more than $1,100 for a Canadian dog’s surgery and medical care. The dog, a neglected Lhasa apso named Suzie who had several medical problems, was dropped off at an animal shelter near Kingston, Ontario, around Christmas. After volunteer Janice Belyea contacted San Francisco pet columnist Christie Keith, an Internet crusade was organized to help Suzie, and in only five hours, enough money was raised to save the dog.
