Uno Means More Than Being Number One

As if being the first beagle to win Best in Show at Westminster wasn’t incredible enough, Uno has now been trained by the ASPCA as a therapy dog. He recently completed a six-week Delta Society Pet Partners training course at the ASPCA’s Manhattan headquarters with trainer Michele Siegel. Siegel knew right away that Uno had the right demeanor to excel in this new arena. She cites Uno’s relaxed body language; bright alert eyes; ability to quickly become comfortable in new surroundings; and a tremendous affinity toward people. Uno’s handler, David Frei, says, “Uno’s historical win at Westminster confirmed his role as America’s best dog, but now that he’s a certified therapy dog, he is much more than a pretty face. He has the ability to comfort and love those who are in serious need, and that goes beyond breeding.” Braaaavo, Uno!
