One Brave Bear

A 250-pound black bear wandered onto Rainbow Bridge on Donner Summit near Lake Tahoe and ended up trapped on the concrete supports under the bridge when he jumped to avoid two cars. He spent the night 80 feet above the granite-strewn ravine, clinging to the supports. The next morning, more than a dozen volunteers assembled, strung a net beneath the bridge, tranquilized the bear, and lowered him safely to the ground. One of the rescuers said he’d never heard of anything like this before. Neither have we!
