Elephants Snarf Up Buns

Hot dog buns, that is. Making the most of their obvious weight advantage, three healthy and fit elephants scored a clear victory over three people at a cross-species eating competition. The elephants triumphed with surprising grace, as they easily digested 505 hot dog buns (no meat) in six minutes. Their human competitors managed to down only 143 buns within the same timeframe. The elephants, Bunny, Susie, and Minnie—all in their 40s—ate at what appeared to be a leisurely pace from behind a table piled high with buns. They even paused to partake of some fresh fruit, which was not counted toward scoring. The humans tried but, apparently, couldn’t remember what elephants never forget: Always eats slow and chew your food.
