Canine Record Holders

• Striker, a border collie from Hungary, holds the world record for “ fastest car window opened by a dog.” He pulled off the feat in an astonishing 11.34 seconds.
• Augie, a golden retriever from Dallas, managed to pick up five tennis balls and keep them in his mouth long enough to earn the title for “ most tennis balls held in a dog’ s mouth.”
• Titan, a 190-pound Great Dane from San Diego, is about to be recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s tallest dog. Titan’s veterinarian had the honor of verifying his height. The official measurement showed that the Great Dane is 42.25 inches (just over 3.5 feet) at the shoulder. Titan, whose back comes up to an average woman’s waist, is deaf and blind. His owner, Diana Taylor, says being a special needs dog doesn’t stop him from enjoying life. One of Titan’s favorite things to do is taking walks with her along the beach.

On the Smaller Side

• The world’s smallest dog in height is Boo Boo, a one-and-a-half-pound, four-inch-tall Chihuahua.
• Four-year-old Heaven Sent Brandy, another Chihuahua, holds the record for world’s smallest dog in length. Measuring six inches long and weighing in at only two pounds, Brandy is healthy but can’t bark.
