California Condors Catch Some ZZZ's
For the first time in nearly a century, California condors have been spotted nesting in northern California. The condor couple has made a home inside a hollowed-out redwood tree right in the center of Big Sur. The male and female condors take turns guarding their nest, never leaving their perch unattended for more than a few minutes at a time. Scientists are hoping there are eggs inside that tree because the California condor is on the brink of extinction, with the last known condor egg in northern California found in 1905 in Monterey County.
