A German Shepherd Saves His Owner by Dialing 911
Dispatcher Chris Scott was doing her job, staying alert beside the emergency phone line when a call rang through from a dog. At first, she thought it was a prank. She was about to hang up, but something about the urgency of the barking and whimpering made Chris stay on the phone. She checked caller ID and realized that the number was listed to a man named Joe Stalnaker, who was well known to be susceptible to seizures. It turns out Joe had programmed his phone to dial 911, so all his dog Buddy had to do in an emergency was kick the phone off the receiver and press any button. Still, the dog had to hold down the button for at least three seconds, which he did. His canine cunning managed to get instant help for his owner. This has to be why they call dogs man’s best friend.
